EMI waves goodbye to DRM
Record company set to announce end of Digital Rights Management on their hefty back catalogue.
Download addicts rejoice. According to weighty US newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, EMI is lining up the end of DRM on all of its tunes. The record company will announce the plan today in London.
This is a major reversal by one of the ‘Big Four’ labels, meaning tracks flogged over the web will no longer be subject to contentious copyright control. Back in February, Apple’s Steve Jobs issued an open letter, claiming that DRM was holding back greater sales of music on the net, and not his own company’s restrictions on use of digital downloads. read more | Link | Trackback | 0 Comments
