LG steals the show at CES with dual-format Multi Blue Burner

LG Electronics have turned the Blu-Ray HD-DVD format war on its head with the release of a new dual format machine. The LG GGW-H10N will record 50GB Blu-Ray (BDR) discs and also read HD-DVD discs. This means the consumers can benefit from the widest range of content form all publishers while getting the benefits of recording on the superior Blu-Ray format. Described as a Super Multi Blue Drive offers 4X recording on Blu-Ray media suggesting that it is possible to burn single layer (25 GB) Blu-Ray discs in fewer than 25 minutes. LG are indicating that the unit is expected to ship 2007 Quarter 1 and will be priced below $1200.
LG also announced the release of a dual format PC drive called the BH-100. Offering the same cross format support for Blu-Ray reading/writing and HD-DVD reading.
